SCCLT Members, supporters and members of the community gathered at the New Leaf Initiative on Wednesday January 16. Attendees heard about everything that took place in 2018, and from a panel of homeowners about their homes' energy journeys. Attendees also heard about the ongoing Energy+ Initiative, which is an endeavor of Borough housing programs to explore improving energy efficiency in existing housing stock. Thank you to @NewLeaf for having us, and to all our homeowners for sharing their stories!

Some grey day snapshots of our newest home on South Atherton Street. This house is not for sale just yet as it has some work to do before it is ready for our newest family. What work, you ask? This home is the first home in our Energy+ Pilot Project, an energy efficiency capital improvement initiative we are undertaking with other housing organizations in the Borough. All new acquisitions to the Land Trust already undergo evaluations for health and safety, and any necessary renovations needed to mitigate lead and bring the homes up to code compliance before they are sold. Homes in our new Energy+ Program will also be evaluated for energy performance, with the aim of improving the efficiency of these homes before they are sold. This endeavor is a continuation of the collaboration between SCCLT, Borough Planning Staff, the Hamer Center for Community Design and the Energy Efficient Housing Research Center at Penn State and the Pennsylvania Housing Research Center begun during the GreenBuild project. SCCLT will purchase and rehab 2 to 3 homes in the pilot phase of this project, learning how to include energy performance in the Land Trust's acquisition and rehab process. Later phases of this project will seek to apply information gathered about the scope and cost of improving energy performance in Land Trust homes to the entire SCCLT portfolio. Follow our progress as we begin this exciting project! The next step for this home is to undergo an energy audit. Check back soon for updates, and enjoy this sneak peak of the home while we wait for sunnier days. It is time once again for our Annual Meeting. We've moved our yearly meeting from November to January, so that we could reflect back on the entirety of 2018. Join us on January 16, at 6:30 pm at the
