Who We Are
Our goal is to sustain the vibrancy and diversity of the Borough community by promoting affordable homeownership in State College, PA. We help first-time homebuyers purchase homes that are in established neighborhoods near work, schools, entertainment, and transit. We have helped nearly 70 individuals and families become successful homeowners in the Borough since 1996.

How does a community land trust (CLT) work?
- SCCLT buys a modest borough house and rehabilitates it for energy efficiency and code compliance.
- Educates and counsels applicants in financial readiness and applying for a mortgage.
- Sells only the house to an applicant who meets federal income guidelines.
- Leases the land to the homeowner in a long-term agreement, cutting the cost by at least 30 percent.
- Homeowners can sell the house in the future to another qualified family or back to SCCLT, based on a resale formula.

MembershipWe welcome all individuals to join SCCLT and contribute to our mission. Members include Borough and Centre County residents, volunteers, homeowners, business owners, and public officials.
